Who Am I?
My real life name is Margaret Steele, and since 1990 I’ve been a professional children’s magician and children’s entertainer based in northern New Jersey. I travel all over the New York Metropolitan area, as well as all over the world! I’ve performed my magic show in Europe, Japan, Australia and South America, as well as throughout the US and Canada, for tens of thousands of children and families.
I currently perform at birthday parties, in theaters, pre-schools, elementary schools, holiday parties, theme parks, corporate events, hospitals, camps, first communion parties, bar and bat mitzvahs, scouting events—anywhere there are children and families!
A musician by training (with degrees from The Juilliard School), I discovered my ability to relate to children while playing in-school concerts in the 1980’s. I found that magic is a great way to motivate children and hold their interest. I love kids, and the feeling is mutual. I can honestly say I’ve never met a child I didn’t like!
I’m
also a writer. My first show for children, “Young Wolfgang,” was
produced Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre. “Woodwind Wizardry,” a
magical music education show, is currently on the
arts-in-education
rosters of both the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Queens
Symphony Orchestra. “The Magical Holiday Elves,” a
Christmas show, made its debut at the Center for the Performing
Arts at Rhinebeck,
and my Halloween magic show, “Spells and Enchantments,” was
first performed with the Queens Symphony Orchestra. I’ve
also written a play for
grown-ups called, “Adelaide, Queen
of Magic.”
